Head of the Sector -
Dr. Sc. (Engineering Sciences),

Professor V.P. Chipulis,
Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation.

Main research directions

  • Monitoring and analysis of operating regimes of heat-and-power engineering objects.
  • Methods and means of diagnosis, prediction and control of heat-and-power engineering objects.
  • Analysis of retrospective information for determining basic dependences between parameters of heat-and-power engineering objects.

Principal results

  • Explotable information analytical systems for monitoring and analyzing operation regimes of heat sources and heat consumers have been developed and introduced.
  • Diagnostic methods for physical and behavioral defects of heat-and-power engineering objects have been developed using retrospective information.
  • Automatized workplaces to perform investigations, technological and financial monitoring of heat-and-power engineering objects, regional analysis of retrospective information have been elaborated.

One of priority development areas in science, technology and engineering in Russian Federation is energy efficiency, energy conservation, nuclear energy. Since 2000 the Institute for Automation and Control Processes in collaboration with the IT-company Infovira has developing information-analytical systems (IAS) in heat-and-power engineering. In recent years, an intense process to install heat meters for energy accounting is observed due to came into force the federal law for energy saving and increasing energy efficiency in Russian Federation. A heat meter performs following basic functions: the measuring of heat-transfer medium parameters (flow, temperature and pressure), the calculation of energy consumption based on measurements, the accumulation and the storage measured values in archives, the providing access to historical data on request via communication interfaces. However, to reach energy savings, it is necessary both the measuring and the effective controlling for heating of buildings.
